Working in groups, you will prepare a short presentation for your classmates about how you think invasive plants should be controlled. Once all of the groups have presented their thoughts, there will be an in-class debate, so you must also prepare for possible arguments against your ideas.

Questions to consider during your research:

  • Do you think the benefits of weed control outweigh the costs?

  • Do you support chemical control?

  • Does your opinion change depending on where the weeds are? A backyard garden vs. a food crop? An urban flower bed vs. a national park?

  • What is the environmental impact of your suggested methods of control?

  • How practical are your suggestions in terms of time and expense?
